The Nofollow attribute: use it to keep the Search Engine spiders inside your site and keep PageRank.
The Nofollow attribute has been recently adopted by most Search
Engines (SE) to prevent forum and blog PageRank (PR) spamming. Many interactive
websites were being misused by webmasters trying to gain incoming links. They
entered any discussion to post a pointless observation, note, comment or blatant
ad, including links to their websites. This has been degraded the quality of all
those interactive sites.
Now, adding : rel="nofollow" to the links,
prevents the SE spiders from following the link and increasing the PR of the
offending page. Thus, there is no more reason for spammers to post in those
sites that are open for dialogue and automatically include the new attribute in
all postings.
Adding this attribute by hand to every link in a website is very
cumbersome, and it is out of your reach if you use third party contents, such as newsfeeds. Delinker can
achieve this purpose automatically in any page, either HTML or dynamically generated.
See our Web Promotion Glossary for more details on PR and related terms.
